Southern Sun Abu Dhabi general manager Pierre Delfau revealed to Caterer Middle East that the hotel will be adding the sixth venue to the property’s food and beverage portfolio: a sports bar.
Declining to confirm the name of the bar at the time of the interview, he said the venue will open towards the end of the year.
Delfau said: “We believe this will be a leader in the city versus the traditional style that is already offered. And that has been the aim of this property – to bring something that nobody else has.
“It will have a very different style – décor will be very different from what you can currently experience.
“We’re trying to bring a sports environment in which a gentleman as well as a lady can feel comfortable in that environment.”
Delfau also added that the sports bar will also include a lounge element, marking it apart from what the emirate currently offers.
He hinted: “The audio-visual we’re bringing in is very different from what you have in a sports bar, in terms of the content you’re going to have in that environment.”
Southern Sun Abu Dhabi has a good mix of the leisure and corporate market, though Delfau added that the hotel has exceeded its leisure market budget by around 29-30% from expectations.
The hotel also recently launched its loyalty programme, which will reward diners across its outlets.
