EXCLUSIVE: hot new nightspot opening in Doha
Melia Doha has given Hotelier the inside scoop on Qatar’s newest, classiest venue for imbibing, vibing and lounging the night away.
Noir Lounge & Club is set to open shortly after Ramadan, club director Bobby Chaggar confirmed to Hotelier in an exclusive interview.
Chaggar is bringing his experience of managing the likes of Q43 in Dubai and The Heron skyscraper’s private member’s club in London to Doha’s rather sleepy, same-same-but-different nightlife scene.
Known for opening a night hot spot and making it one of the most exclusive, popular venues in town, Chaggar has big plans for Noir.
Describing the vibe, he said: “The service will be intimate, at your table, bespoke to you. The atmosphere will be free from arrogance and posing. Noir is for the guest who has pure class and nothing to prove.”
In terms of ambience, it will be similar to Provocateur and Boudoir in Dubai and Buddha Bar in London.
Chaggar said that the Noir attitude is to focus on guests, knowing them and their preferences, and catering to regulars without the pretention or a VIP club attitude that some venues fall prey to.
Discussing the trend Doha has seen lately for nightclubs charging exorbitant rates for entry into rather derivative venues, Chaggar confesses: “I think we’re going to make some people angry. We don’t need to charge people for entry – we just need to create a venue that’s the best place to be on a Thursday night.”
A big focus for Chaggar is staff and making sure Noir’s service is the best: “Everyone here will bring something to the party: from bussers to wait staff to concierges. Our staff is encouraged to form a bond with regular guests -- meaning that they already know their favourite table, drink and so on. The best waiters border on being virtual concierges."
The music genre at Noir will be in keeping with the cool, classy, lounge atmosphere, with a focus on vocal, light house and what Chaggar describes as “accessible R&B.”
