Shaun Parsons has been appointed as the new cluster general manager at Le Méridien Dubai Hotel & Conference Centre.
He leaves his previous role at Le Royal Méridien Abu Dhabi, which he had held since 2012, to join the Dubai property.
“Dubai is the undisputed hub of high-end hospitality within the Middle East region and I am delighted to be in a hotel that is constantly evolving with the changing times while retaining its true essence,” Parsons commented.
“Le Méridien Dubai Hotel & Conference Centre has recently undergone an expansion of guest rooms and state of the art conference and banquet facilities, repositioning it as a MICE destination.
“The hotel boasts the most diverse and varied F&B outlets. I eagerly look forward to working with the dynamic team of associates towards a greater guest experience.”
In his previous position, the five-star Abu Dhabi property underwent a refurbishment of its guest rooms, public areas and F&B operations.
Parsons first joined Starwood Hotels & Resorts in 2006 as complex executive assistant manager – food & beverage, and then complex hotel manager at the Mina Seyahi complex comprising Le Méridien Mina Seyahi Beach Resort and Marina and The Westin Dubai.
He was promoted to complex hotel manager at the same property in 2008.
Prior to his nine years with Starwood, Parsons worked for Hyatt Hotels & Resorts in Australia in D&B departments.
A graduate from Australia’s Victoria University of Technology, Parsons is married with three children, and enjoys traveling and the occasional game of tennis.
Stuart Birkwood will take over as GM of Le Méridien Abu Dhabi.
Birkwood brings more than 20 years of hospitality experience to his new role, where he will oversee operations at the 35-year-old hotel.
