Dusit Thani Hotels & Resorts has appointed Desmond Hatton as general manager of Dusit Thani Abu Dhabi.
Irish national Hatton arrives in the UAE capital from his role at the helm of Dusit Thani Maldives.
He bring experience from a number of leadership roles with Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts, working at properties in Fiji, Malaysia, Philippines, and in another regional property, Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa in Oman.
Hatton’s career experience also includes food and beverage, rooms and accounting in Germany, Switzerland, Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
Thierry Douin, vice president operations of Dusit International commented: “We are delighted to welcome Desmond Hatton at the helm of our company’s flagship property in Abu Dhabi, particularly during a time when the Dusit Thani brand grows from strength to strength in the United Arab Emirates.”
Hatton’s responsibilities will include overseeing the performance, strategic direction and day-to-day operations of the 533-key property, which Thai restaurant Benjarong and Namm Spa.

Located in the new business and government district, adjacent to the CERT Technology Park, Dusit Thani Abu Dhabi features 402 guest rooms and suites and 131 deluxe serviced apartments.
The hotel also has five dining outlets and a conference centre that can host up to 2000 guests.
In May, Dusit International and Al Masr Holding announced an agreement for the Thai operator to manage an additional two properties in the UAE.
