W Hotel Doha promotes new executive chef

Formerly executive sous chef at the W, Kim Hyung Gyu has now taken up the position of executive chef overlooking the entire culinary operations of the hotel.

Chef Kim’s remarkable international experience, skills and passion for innovation will enhance the hotel’s food and beverage department’s development and success. We look forward to this change in the kitchen and take our guests through an exceptional dining experience”, said Safak Guvenc, General Manager/Area Manager, W Doha Hotel & Residences.

Kim will oversee all F&B operations at the hotel, including restaurants, banquets, in room dining & outside catering.
After three certificates at the Le Cordon Bleu all of which completed with Credit, Kim went on to work for restaurants in the UK that either have one Michelin star or two to three Rosettes.

The first event Kim will introduce to the W hotel is the Sensory Dining Experience. Guests will be taken through the gastronomic menu that Kim will prepare, and will be blind folded while they dine.

Held on every last Saturday of the month, the dinner will be hosted by various chefs at the hotel and also include unique food pairings with grape and other specialty drinks. Bookings require a minimum of six people.
