Movenpick Hotel Riyadh has opened its doors, marking the hospitality firm’s first property in the Saudi capital, and its tenth in the Kingdom.
The five-star property witnessed an investment of SAR 800 million (US$213.2 million), and features 438 luxury rooms and suites in a well-placed location of the capital city.
The new property is based in the business district on King Fahad Road opposite the Ministry of Interior, 30 minutes from Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport.
A high-profile launch celebration took place at the property under the patronage of HRH Prince Faisal Bin Bandar Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Governor of Riyadh. Several of the city’s prominent business leaders attended the opening ceremony.
“We are thrilled to be opening the first Movenpick hotel in Saudi’s vibrant capital, which also marks another major milestone as our 10th property in the kingdom,” said Andreas Mattmüller, chief operating officer, Movenpick Hotels & Resorts, Middle East and Asia.
“We have always felt a strong connection with the Riyadh community, and are delighted now to have the opportunity to welcome guests to our new property.”
On the culinary front, Movenpick Hotel Riyadh is home to Acacia by Pierre Gagnaire, French Michelin-starred chef, Naya – a Lebanese cuisine restaurant, an authentic Indian restaurant in Anardana and Horizon, an all-day dining outlet. Also, the hotel features a women’s only spa.
Additionally the property features a health club, massage rooms, sauna, ice room and a pool, 12 meeting venues including a 1,200-square-metre ballroom, along with a kids club.
Mr. Mohamed Bin Dawood, the CEO of Manafea Holding Co., which owns Movenpick Hotel Riyadh, gave an insight into the company’s partnership “Together we have created a distinctive hotel that will mark a new era for Riyadh, introducing a signature style of hospitality and service the local market will highly appreciate,” he said.
Movenpick aims to operate at least 15 properties across Saudi Arabia by 2020. This latest hotel opening boosts the hospitality firm’s inventory to 3,894 rooms kingdom wide.
