Waldorf Astoria Dubai Palm Jumeirah has welcomed new general manager David Wilson, a hotelier with over 30 years of international experience.
Wilson began his career in hospitality in various positions in the UK, Indonesia and Australia. Most recently, he was MD of Ritz-Carlton Beijing and JW Marriott Beijing.
A career highlight for Wilson was his role as GM of Ritz-Carlton Bali Resort and Spa, where he successfully developed and launched 40 new on-property villas, a spa and a new restaurant concept.
He has also worked for Shangri-La Luxury Hotels and Hyatt Hotels.
Essam Abouda, area VP of hotel operations for Arabian Peninsula & Turkey for Hilton Worldwide, said: "We are thrilled to have David at the helm of one of our landmark Waldorf Astoria properties.
David's wide-ranging, global expertise in the luxury hospitality industry will be an important asset in overseeing a hotel that caters to influential international travellers."
Wilson commented on his appointment: “I am excited about …joining the team at the Waldorf Astoria Dubai Palm Jumeirah. Throughout my 30 plus years of experience, I have always admired the rich heritage and industry-setting service standards of the Waldorf Astoria brand.
“I look forward to expanding on this legacy and ensuring an unforgettable experience for our future guests.”
Open since March 2014, Waldorf Astoria Dubai Palm Jumeirah joined the brand’s flagship UAE property in Ras Al Kaimah. Waldorf Astoria is currently building its first property in Qatar, set to open in 2016.
