COMING UP: Caterer ME's Bar & Nightlife Forum

Sarah Williams, September 22nd, 2015

Caterer Middle East's Bar & Nightlife Forum is kicking off October 5, 2015 at Grosvenor House, Dubai, bringing together the region's top nightlife connosieurs, lifestyle experts, and beverage barons.

This not-to-be-missed event goes behind the scenes of what makes some of the Middle East's hottest nightspots, classiest wine bars and chillest lounges the places that  customers are buzzing about.

Speakers include bosses from some great venues, including Qbara, Zero Gravity, Trader Vic's, Coya, Cavalli Club, Jumeirah Group and Atlantis.

Panel discussions include a frank discussion about why one of the world's most delectable beverages - wine - isn't more popular in the Middle East, and how you can position it better to educate your customers.

Our supply panel will focus on one of the biggest regional issues: how to get products and once they've been procured, how to make money on them. Dubai’s alcohol supply issues makes buying alcohol more complicated than in most places.

Do bars and clubs have enough access to the alcohol they need at the time that they need it? Abu Dhabi has adopted a different strategy with six alcohol suppliers catering to the market - does this make the supply chain healthier or are they still facing similar issues? Our experts will share their experience and numbers.

For the mixologists amongst you, our discussion on the lack of direct access to niche alcohol brands can stifle the innovation that bartenders can bring to their drinks. Is there enough demand for more inventive drinks to warrant special imports?

The forum will also discuss:

  • staffing issues in the Middle East generally and for nightlife and alcohol-based venues specifically
  • bar design and how a badly-designed bar can affect the amount of time (and ultimately the money) your guests spend
  • promoters and how they can help or hinder
