Gates Hospitality opens traditional French bistro

Devina Divecha, October 10th, 2015

Bistro Des Arts is a traditional French bistro situated on the Dubai Marina waterfront, and is the latest offering to Dubai's F&B scene by Gates Hospitality.

The original concept was created by its co-founders, Julien Pilard and Jonathan Vercoutere, who are passionate about French terroir cuisine and authentic family recipes.

The bistrotier is part of The Address Hotel Dubai Marina, and consists of a covered outdoor terrace, a bar, indoor dining area and a social table. The venue has been designed to replicate the interiors of a 1970s French neighbourhood Bistro. The restuarant is licensed, and the terrance seats guests under a vibrant red French awning. It will serve ingredients and seasonal produce sourced from French regions.

The venue also has an extensive wine list much of which is available by the glass. One brand, Marius by Michel Chapoutier, has been bought exclusively to the emirate by the venue.

A weekly menu with daily rotating specials, referred to as the 'Plats Du Jour menu' is offered, as well as an in-house fish counter and raw bar showcasing the daily catch.

Pilard said: "I am extremely proud and excited to introduce our concept; Bistro Des Arts to the people of Dubai. I have been a resident of Dubai for a number of years and feel that there is a major gap in the market for this type of concept."

His co-founder, Vercoutere, added: "Bistro Des Arts is a product of years of work and research. We are excited to recreate the old-fashioned French bistro experience in such a key location on Marina Promenade. The menu will focus on pulling together the freshest ingredients, using unique French cooking techniques prepared simply, yet offering charming tastes and flavours."

The concept was created in alliance with Gates Hospitality, which is also behind venues such as Reform Social & Grill, The Black Lion, and Ultra Brasserie.
