Sheraton Abu Dhabi recently held a charity flea market which showcased 90 exhibitors, who managed to raise US $6400 (AED 23,500) for the hotel's charity fund for UNICEF.
Funds collected from the sale will support UNICEF’s Wash projects providing clean drinking water and proper sanitation facilities for children and their families across Africa and the Middle East. This year UNICEF and Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Sheraton Abu Dhabi’s parent company, are celebrating 20 years of partnership.
Since 1995, Starwood has supported UNICEF projects in more than 40 countries across the world with $30 million of funds raised. UNICEF works in more than 100 countries around the world to improve water supplies and sanitation facilities in schools and communities, and to promote safe hygiene practices.
Yves Tarabout, acting general manager, Sheraton Abu Dhabi said: “We were thrilled to be running our last charity market in aid of UNICEF. Knowing that the money we raised will be used to improve the lives of vulnerable children throughout Africa and the Middle East, is tremendously rewarding.
"I would like to thank all our exhibitors – many of them returning to us for years – for their continued support and contribution to this very worthy cause. I am also very proud of my associates who donated their free time to ensure that the charity bazaar is a fun day out for our visitors.”
Sheraton Abu Dhabi Hotel will host the next charity flea market on December 5, 2015. Visitors can enter free of charge, with exhibitor tables available from $77.5 (AED 285) each, with an early bird discount for those who book by November 8.
