'Airbnb for chefs' launches in the UAE

Described as Airbnb for chefs, a new service has launched in the UAE that offers high-end private chefs for hire.

Hailing from Finland, Foodiac is bringing together a host of regional and international culinary talent to provide "fine dining in the comfort of your home or event", according to co-founder and CEO Miikka Makio.

"With backgrounds in top international restaurants, [the chefs] can delight you with everything from whole foods to haute cuisine and make sure every occasion is tailored to your taste,” he added.

Foodiac has expanding to Dubai with the help of local accelerator TURN8 and is backed by Finnish restaurateur Arto Rastas as well as a Finnish VC firm, Butterfly Ventures.

The service promises to reveal new chefs daily, including “local celebrity” and restaurant chefs, all of whom can be called on to cater any ocassion.
