The hotel sector in Dubai has reportedly achieved occupancy rates of 90% in hotels and hotel apartments in the fourth quarter of 2015, hoteliers in Dubai have revealed.
Hotel occupancy reached its maximum capacity of 100% on many occasions, according to a data provided by Aliqtisadi.
They attributed the growth of the hotel sector to efforts by government institutions to promote Dubai as a global destination.
Further contributing to the growth in arrival figures is the number of events and exhibitions organised by the emirate.
Dubai hotels achieved high occupancy rates during the National Day celebrations, with rates reaching nearly 100% at this time.
The number of tourists received by the Emirate during the Eid holiday in 2015 grew by as much as 10% compared with the number of tourists during the same period last year.
Hotel occupancy rates in Dubai rose during September and October to 95% when compared with the summer season.
Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing claims 45,000 new hotel rooms will need to be constructed ahead of Expo 2020. These rooms will join the existing 80,000-plus operational hotel rooms already available to tourists and business visitors.
