InterContinental signs Memorandum of Cooperation

InterContinental Hotels Group Signs Memorandum of Cooperation with Ministry of Labour and Amman Chamber of Commerce.

Under the patronage of Prime Minister, H.E. Dr. Abdullah Ensour, and theminister of information and communications technology, H.E. Majd Shweikeh, InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) with the Ministry of Labour (MOL) and Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC).

The MOC agreement aims to attract, train and employ Jordanians in the tourism sector and qualify them to enter the job market.

The agreement was completed on Thursday 19 November, 2015, at Ya Hala Hall in Al Hussein Youth City by H.E. Dr. Nidal Al-Qatameen, the Minister of Labour, Firas Irsheidat, area general manager of IHG Dead Sea Resorts and general manager of Crowne Plaza Jordan Dead Sea Resort & Spa and Issa Murad, ACC Chairman.

"We believe in the importance of rallying both the public and private sectors in order to achieve socio-economic development, and to contribute to the reduction of unemployment among our youth. As such, we decided to sign this memorandum with the Ministry of Labour and the Amman Chamber of Commerce, with whom we share the vision of a qualified and employed workforce, in order to equip Jordanians with the necessary professional training and raise their efficiency. This step will help provide these youth with social protection, in addition to organizing the labour market," said IHG Dead Sea Resorts area general manager Firas Irsheidat.

The second IHG Dead Sea Academy, which provides training courses to young job seekers between the ages of 18 and 35, has so far trained 60 young men and women.
