Global Village will be working hard over the next 12 months to keep its name in the forefront of people's minds prior to the launch of the permanent facility next year, according to its chief executive officer Abdul Redha Ali Bin Redha.

He said Global Village would present international shows throughout the year that would be similar to the types of education and entertainment-based displays planned for the permanent Global Village theme park.

"One of these is the Disney Live Mickey Magic Show, which ran from May 15-26 at the Airport Expo Dubai," said Redha.

"This was the first time it was shown in the GCC and the second time in all the Middle East. The show is very unique and custom made to be performed outside of Disney parks," he explained.

Global Village has also recently signed the masterplan for The Little Big Club in partnership with Hit Entertainment from the UK, revealed Redha.

A 25,000ft² indoor facility within Global Village, The Little Big Club will be aimed at toddlers and children aged up to between nine and 10. It will be the first time in the world that the four characters of Hit Entertainment - Barney, Thomas, Pingu and Bob the Builder - will be grouped together, said Redha.

"It will be opening within one year," he added.

This will make up phase one of Global Village, with a five-star hotel, four-star hotel and full scale fun fair to open two to three years later ,said Redha.

Once complete, Global Village would span 17.5 million ft² and include 16,500 parking spaces.

"Today in Dubai our problem is that there is no parking available and at the same time, there is a lot of traffic so what we are trying to do is reduce traffic by providing different entrances and exits for the cars and increasing the number of parking spaces because of the huge demand we've had over the last few years," said Redha.

"If we need to open extra parking we have that facility and at the same time we have a link to Outer Bypass road for access to Sharjah, Jebel Ali, Barsha and Al Ain,which will reduce traffic," he continued.

Global Village is set to reveal the masterplan for its final temporary event in the next few weeks.
