Dubai will ring in the New Year with a spectacular 24-minute firework display that will start at the Burj Khalifa and end at JBR.
The display, which has been six months in the planning, will see close to nine tonnes of fireworks fired from over 685 positions by more than 100 specialist technicians along the 23km journey from Downtown
Dubai, through the Business Bay Canal, along the Jumeirah coastline leading to the Burj Al Arab before climaxing in a six minute and 20 second crescendo at The Beach JBR.
The Burj Khalifa display, which is expected to attract as many as two million people to the Downtown Dubai area, will feature an eight-act display that presents the futuristic vision of the UAE, according to Emaar.
The display on the 828-metre Burj Khalifa’s façade will see the 357,000 LED nodes being lit up in myriad hues to highlight a number of themes including a tribute to the UAE.
Two minutes preceding the countdown, a light display will sweep through Downtown Dubai creating intricately designed patterns on the façade of The Dubai Mall. A visual depiction of a giant sand hourglass will mark the passage of time.

The countdown to welcome 2016 will see a crescendo of fireworks, light beams and LED displays illuminating Downtown Dubai.
The display will then see the Burj Khalifa assume the form of a digital flower led by the multiple LED displays, followed by a symphony of colourful fireworks matched by graphic design on the tower’s façade.
From the cityscape to the marina, fireworks will illuminate the Jumeirah coastline which covers Kite Beach, public beaches alongside Jumeirah Beach Road and finally, the Burj Al Arab just nine minutes after the stroke of midnight.
The display concludes with the grand finale at The Beach at 12:16am, with a seven-minute display.
