Rising interest from Europe and America is contributing to growing occupancy in the Sultanate of Oman.

A growth in interest from the European Union and American countries has led to winter hotel bookings reaching 98% in the Sultanate of Oman.

Oman recorded tourist growth in hotel bookings during November and December, with expectations of reaching 100% in the near future.

The numbers of tourists visiting the Sultanate is expected to increase through to May 2016, with four- and five-star hotels experiencing greatest growth.

Officials working in the hospitality sector added that bookings during the previous two months witnessed a growth in occupancy rates ranging from 75% and 90%, and in some hotels 98%, according to local sources.

Hospitality professionals emphasised that institutions and hotels had prepared to receive an influx of tourists during the winter season in light of the growing interest to visit the Sultanate.

European and American travellers account for the largest proportion of the foreign tourists visiting Oman.
