Carlson Rezidor's Radisson Blu Martinez Beirut has provided a lifetime supply of clean water for 31 children with a donation through Just a Drop, an international water aid charity.
From August-October 2015, 7,500 towels were reused at the property, which assisted the hotel towards this donation.
"The initiative involved hotel guests who are asked to consider re-using their towels during their stay in exchange for a donation provided by the hotel to Just a Drop,” said Radisson Blu Martinez Hotel, Beirut general manager Konstantinos Kourotsidis.
"We believe that saving water is a responsibility we hold and is a way of life. We are keen to pass on this behaviour to our employees, who in the end will act as an influencer to force each in his own community to save water and eventually play a small role in saving nature,” he added.
Due to a vast amount of water used in the course of daily business, Radisson Blu in partnership with Just a Drop, launched the Blu Planet initiative.
The initiative's focus is on the reuse of bath towels inside the hotel premises. With every 250 bath towels reused, safe drinking water is provided through the charity. In addition, Radisson Blu has now achieved a 27% reduction in water consumption since 2007 with more than 220 worldwide hotels committed to save water and use fewer chemical products.
