Dubai's Burj Al Arab adds private luxury deck

Dubai’s Burj Al Arab Jumeirah is adding an expansive outdoor luxury leisure concept called North Deck to its facilities.

The steel deck, developed by marine construction experts Admares, is being shipped from a shipyard in Finland and will travel over 8,000 nautical miles away to reach its destination in Dubai. 

It departed on January 9 and is due for arrival at the luxury hotel in mid-February, when the six sections - weighing about 5,000 tonnes in total - will be lifted by crane and lowered onto a grid of 90 steel piles.

The 10,000m2 private luxury deck, scheduled for opening in Q2 2016, will fan 100 metres out into the Arabian Gulf and accommodate 32 cabanas, 400 sun loungers, one restaurant, one bar, one fresh water pool and one salt water pool. 

In a statement, Burj Al Arab Jumeirah claimed the North Deck's design provides shade for fish and will attract undersea ecosystems that are known to cluster around steel piles.

The hotel's general manager, Anthony McHale, commented: “ We are hugely excited about its arrival - North Deck is a true reflection of Dubai’s own ambition to provide the most outstanding experience for guests visiting and living in Dubai.”
