DTCM reveals top three source markets for Dubai

Dubai Tourism and Commerce Marketing figures revealed that the top three source countries for Dubai’s tourists in 2015 were India, Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom.

Latest figures from DTCM indicate that Dubai welcomed 14.2 million visitors in 2015, a rise of 7.5% from 2014, with arrivals from Western Europe and South Asia on the rise.

The data suggests the emirate is progressing towards its aim of welcoming 20 million visitors by 2020.

Saudi Arabia contributed 1.54m visitors to the UAE in 2015, the United Kingdom brought in nearly 1.2m tourists, while India saw 1.6m visitors to the emirate.

The 2015 figures helped “offset negative trends in the consolidated Russia, CIS and Eastern European region,” which recorded a 22.5% drop in travellers, says DCTM.

DTCM also noted that 450,000 Chinese tourists entered Dubai in 2015, a rise of 29% from 2014.

“Inbound traffic from China dominated the uptake from this region, topping the leader board of year-on-year growth trends with a 29% increase in numbers,” the department says.
