Jeddah hotels to get British quality assessment

David Thompson, February 10th, 2016

Hygienic conditions and quality of service in hotels and restaurants are to become a focus of quality assessment in the Saudi city of Jeddah.

Check Safety First Group, a British company has been contracted by Jeddah Mayoralty, to improve the hygienic conditions and service in hotels and restaurants throughout Jeddah.

In an effort to encourage restaurants and hotels to follow hygiene and safety guidelines, the ministry will award medals of excellence to company’s receiving high assessment grades.

Check Safety First officials will visit restaurants and hotels registered with the medal of excellence program four times a year for assessment.

The first visit, which is free, checks whether they are complying with the conditions set by the ministry.

A consultant from Check Safety First will visit a firm four times annually to make sure it has taken measures to correct the observations of inspectors and improve classification.

After the fourth visit, the restaurant or hotel will get an assessment report, if it receives marks between 86% and 100% it will qualify for the medal of excellence.

Registered restaurants and hotels will be classified into six categories on the basis of their performance and quality of service.
