Nikhil Pereira, February 21st, 2016

Khalidiya Palace Rayhaan by Rotana visited the patients of Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC) to commemorate the International Childhood Cancer Day.

The hotel hopes to raise awareness about children suffering from this disease as well as to show its ongoing commitment to the well-being and health of the community.

The visit was marked by a distribution of gifts amongst kids. The hotel’s associates met representatives from the SKMC, and families of the children and discussed their health progress along with the needs and challenges they face.

The team took a tour in the hospital to witness the children’s progress and spent time with them understanding their battle against the deadly disease.

“It was magnificent to see all our colleagues interact with the children. Despite the circumstances all the participants were motivated and proud to be able to support a noble cause. The objective of this visit was to put a spotlight on the types of cancer that largely affect children, survivorship issues and help raise awareness for research and family support. We thank the hospital for giving us the opportunity to do this rewarding activity,” said Eleni Tsolakou, general manager at Khalidiya Palace Rayhaan by Rotana.

International Childhood Cancer Day is a global collaborative campaign to raise awareness about childhood cancer, and to express support for children and adolescents with cancer, the survivors and their families.

“Improved awareness and outcomes are not delivered by healthcare providers alone. Communities and the wider public play a critical role in helping those in need,” said Dr Aref Al Shehhi, acting CEO at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City.
