Abu Dhbai property Jannah Burj al Sarab will mark earth hour this year, as hotel employees create a symbolic ‘60+’ (to represent the 60 minutes of earth hour and beyond) with candlelight.
The annual ‘earth hour’ event was created by the WWF, and encourages people to switch off electric lighting for one hour to preserve energy and promote environmental awareness.
Taking place on Saturday March 19 from 8.30-9.30pm, Jannah Burj al Sarab has said in a statement that electric lighting in the entire 18-floor hotel will be switched of during this period.
The hotel’s new restaurant The Dining Room will also host a candlelight dinner during this time.
Jannah Hotels and Resorts CEO Nehme Imad Darwiche commented: “Earth Hour is a significant global event where people all around the world unite in drawing attention to the future of our planet and its resources.
“Jannah Burj Al Sarab is a leader in the field of resource sustainability with water heaters powered by solar panels, motion sensor LED lighting throughout the hotel, and an eco-friendly room management system. In addition, we have installed systems that regulate water usage and AC efficiency, while our talents are trained to avoid wasting paper and other resources.”
