First homegrown Jamaican restaurant opens in Dubai

Sarah Jacotine, April 11th, 2016

Dubai’s first home-grown Jamaican restaurant and lounge is set to open on Downtown Boulevard this month.

Ting Irie welcomes executive chef Craig Wong, who has previously worked in Michelin starred restaurants including Alain Ducasse au Plaza Athénée and Heston Blumental’s Fat Duck. Ting Irie also welcomes several Jamaican nationals to the team.

Wong will draw on his Jamaican-Chinese heritage in creating dishes, and many of the Caribbean ingredients and spices are imported straight from Jamrock, including Scotch Bonnet peppers and Pimento seeds.

"Ting Irie is a fresh modern take on Caribbean Cuisine and food for the soul. We're not shy about bold flavours or fun modern ideas, but at the same time we have the utmost respect for traditional island ingredients and Jamaican dishes that we have all grown to love," Wong revealed.

Ting Irie will seat in excess of 180 guests.
