Homegrown brand Bateel International has opened its first café in Kuwait, within Avenues Mall.

The brand, which has a presence in 14 countries, has opened over 40 boutiques and 16 cafés across the globe.

Bateel International managing director Dr. Ata Atmar said: “Bateel’s launch in Kuwait follows our recent successful expansion in Riyadh and marks the continuation of an important year of growth for our brand."

He added that 2016 is also "a milestone year for Bateel" as it celebrates 25 years since the launch of its first outlet.

Café Bateel describes itself as an 'elevated casual dining concept' offering Mediterranean fare and a rich tradition of Arabian hospitality.

Café Bateel general manager Spencer Ayers comments: “We are proud to introduce Café Bateel to Kuwait, a country well-known for dining out, food connoisseurs and premium brands. We believe the brand is perfectly suited for the market.”

For the first time, Bateel has partnered with interior design agency Bishop UK in creating a look specifically tailored to the Kuwait market, using earth-tone colours fused with natural elements.

The boutique and café combined spans over 4,500 sq ft, with the latter accommodating 150 guests, and features a balcony terrace on the first floor for outdoor dining.
