Dubai-based Gloria Hotels and Resorts is to target the mid-market hospitality sector with a new three-star brand.

Gloria Hotels area general manager Freddy Farid met Hotelier Middle East at Arabian Travel Market 2016 to announce an expansion strategy which will see 80,000 new rooms operational by 2020, including the launch of mid-market properties in the region under Gloria Inn.

Developing a strong mid-market sector is a must for Dubai and UAE as a whole,” said Farid.

“In my opinion we need to focus on the mid-market because this is something that is needed in the market as it caters for various types of traveller, including leisure, corporate and MICE guests,” he added.

The region hospitality group that has been in operation since 2009, aims to capture the growing mid-market segment with the launch of new three-star properties, starting with the recently opened Gloria Inn –  in Najran, Saudi Arabia.

“This sector is important especially due to DTCM’s push in the mid-market to bring family attractions to Dubai; families from around the world will want to come here and there is a gap in the market for accommodation that fits their budget,” Farid added.

Gloria Hotels and Resorts currently operates seven properties in total across the GCC.

Budget accommodation by the chain opening soon includes Gloria Inn Riyadh, Gloria Suites Al Urubah, Takamul Gloria, Al Hamra Mekkah and Khalidia Palace Hotel, Dubai.
