In conversation with Nathan Outlaw...on Star Wars

Devina Divecha, May 4th, 2016

Michelin-starred chef Nathan Outlaw, who will debut at the Burj Al Arab later this year, revealed his Star Wars fan status to Hotelier Middle East; on May the Fourth (aka Star Wars Day), we share the conversation.

Outlaw told Hotelier, when asked about his Instagram photos related to Star Wars: "I am obsessed with Star Wars!"

Hotelier asked Outlaw which movie(s) from the series he liked the most, and he said: "I prefer the original, I know it word for word. What I don’t like about people that call themselves Star Wars fans and then [say they don't like] the new ones, [is] I don’t think you’re a true Star Wars fan. Because if you’re a true Star Wars fan, you want to know what’s happened. You want to know the story."

He joked: "If they make 50 more, I’ll be happy because I just love the story."

Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens released in December 2015, with parts of the movie filmed in Abu Dhabi, helping along occupancy levels at the time of shooting.

Discussing fan theories, Outlaw said: "We all want to know who Rey is, and do you want to know my theory? The Emperor apparently killed his teacher, and if you catch it in Episode III, he said that he killed his master.

"Now I don’t think he killed his master; I think Snoke is his master."

Outlaw's theory is that it takes equal evil and good to defeat Snoke and that Leia and Han Solo’s son, Kylo Ren, is actually good, despite killing his father.

"I still think he’s good, and I think Luke’s put him on that path because he knows he’s going to have to battle Snoke at some point and he needs both of them to battle him. I reckon you need equal Dark Side and Jedi power to defeat Snoke. That’s my theory."
