Danat Jebel Dhanna Resort to double inventory

During ATM, Hotelier Middle East met with Kevin Lawless, GM of the Danat Jebel Dhanna Resort.

Lawless told Hotelier Middle East that the resort in Abu Dhabi’s western region has planned the introduction of 24 chalets, in a bid to tap in to the leisure market.

“We all know things are changing, but having said that the hotel is located in a very unique area. We are surrounded by projects related to oil and gas and the nuclear power plant. So we have strong corporate demand,” Lawless told Hotelier.

“The business segment hasn’t changed very much for now. There are very few properties in the western region, and we are the only five star beach resort in the western region,” he continued.

“As of now we are a very corporate hotel, with a small percentage for leisure. With the opening of the chalets, we’ll have a little more inventory we can play around with, so we can start getting back in to the leisure area of the market.”

The renovation will approximately double the inventory at the 109 key resort. The renovation is currently expected to finish in October 2016.

Once the renovation is complete, Lawless revealed, the property can also take advantage of new MICE markets, which require large numbers of rooms for group bookings.
