Filling The Blues returns to support labourers

Devina Divecha, June 10th, 2016

Dubai's home-grown restaurants are banding together again to give back to labourers working evening shifts during Ramadan.

Moti Roti's campaign Filling The Blues will make another appearance this year, at the construction site in Al Barsha opposite Al Khoory Atrium Hotel.

As part of this programme, a local F&B venture will provide iftar packs to the labourers clocking out of the construction site just before iftar.

Speaking to Caterer Middle East, Moti Roti founder Tahir Shah called the band of volunteer restaurants "the Avengers" and said: "It's a chance to give back to the construction workers in Dubai, and also for everyone including the local restaurants to spend time with each other."

He continued: "The response has been great, we're already full up for all the nights. Now we're just looking for extra volunteers."

The restaurants will serve iftar every day during Ramadan except Fridays when the labourers are off.

Participating home-grown restaurants this year include: Moti Roti, Taqado, Appetite, Nais Italian Kitchen, Freedom Pizza, Falafel Farm, Bookmunch, Deli Bites, Calle Tacos, Wofl, Baker And Spice, Sumo, Big Boss Palm, Burger Fuel, One Life Kitchen, Bystro and Zyara.
