InterContinental Dubai Marina fills two exec roles

InterContinental Dubai Marina has made changes to its senior management team, with one promotion and one new hire.

Antje Sahling, previously hotel manager, has been promoted to acting general manager (taking over from the previous GM, Michael Martin, who is moving to Singapore, also with IHG), alongside Georges El Hachem, who has boarded as director of sales and marketing.

Sahling has been with IHG Group at eight properties around the world and brings nearly 15 years of brand knowledge and industry experience with her to the role.

Her first role in the hospitality industry was with Le Meridien Hotels in 1999.

She began her InterContinental career with Aphrodite Hills resort, Paphos, before going to UAE, China, Indonesia, Vietnam, South East Asia and recently back to the Middle East, as hotel manager at InterContinental Dubai Marina, prior to her promotion.

“I am excited upon taking on the role as acting general manager and look forward to continuing to provide an inspiring experience to all of our guests,” said Sahling.

The new director of sales and marketing, El Hachem, was with IHG Group before moving to Banyan Tree Hotels and Resorts.

El Hachem has 18 years' industry experience within the Middle East and 15 years of IHG brand knowledge.

His career within IHG began at InterContinental Phoenicia Beirut as housekeeping surpervisor, and he continued to grow within the company.

He continued to grow with three other venues, all within the Middle East, including Crowne Plaza Dubai, InterContinental Muscat and Crowne Plaza Doha.

El Hachem then joined Banyan Tree Al Wadi & Banyan Tree RAK Beach as director of sales and marketing, and his most recent role was with Banyan Tree as director of field performance dupport , Europe, Middle East, Africa & South Asia.

“I am happy to welcome Georges to InterContinental Dubai Marina and look forward to working with him to further develop the sales and marketing strategy for both the property and the unique dining concepts within it," said Sahling.
