The Pink Brigade campaign returns for third outing

Devina Divecha, July 24th, 2016

The Pink Brigade campaign organised by Dubai chefs Russell Impiazzi and Robbie Stokes to raise awareness and support those affected by breast cancer marks its return for a third year.

The awareness and fundraising campaign for breast cancer has previously brought together chefs from the UAE, UK and Canada raising over AED100,000 (US $27,225).

As always, uniform company Bragard will supply this year’s jackets, and as an alternative to the jacket this year, A. Ronai will be supplying a vibrant pink apron.

The jacket cost stays the same as in previous years at AED 100 ($27) per piece and the aprons are priced at AED 50 ($14). Deadline for all orders is September 10.

Speaking to Caterer Middle East, Galeries Lafayette Le Gourmet culinary director Russell Impiazzi said the apron was introduced based on feedback from chefs, and added: “A. Ronai has been brilliant, and Bragard has been fantastic since the start and really supportive.”

As with last year, all the money received will go towards supporting the Pink Caravan, a nationwide initiative launched by the Friends of Cancer Patients (FoCP).

Impiazzi said: “The response has been fantastic in the last two years, we’ve had great support from everyone. I just want to make sure we continue that this year.”

Impiazzi said companies like Emirates Flight Catering, Jumeirah, Hilton Radisson, and the Emirates Culinary Guild have all gotten on-board with the campaign. “We’re bringing the industry together in a show of solidarity of all things pink,” concluded Impiazzi.

The Pink Brigade chefs’ get-together and photoshoot will be held at the end of October.
