Fire broke out on July 20 at the Tawar Mall, which is currently under construction, in the Al Duhail area of Doha.
According to a company statement, the fire started on the second floor of the mall, and was concentrated in a small area. The statement also stated that the fire was put out quickly, and with no casualties.
The mall, which will house 312 shops and restaurants, as well as a boutique hotel, is expected to open in Q4 2016.
Commenting on the fire, Tawar Mall chairman Jassim Bin Jabr Sultan Tawar Al-Kuwari said: “Tawar Mall is grateful that there were no casualties. Due to the prompt evacuation of construction workers on the site and staff, no injuries and no serious damage happened. I wish to express my appreciation to the authorities for their immediate and professional support and prompt reaction as with this, they have ensured the safety of everyone. As it was a small fire, that was immediately controlled, no construction delays will be announced.”
