Restaurants in Saudi Arabia will now be required to clearly display the type and origin of meat being served, as a result of new rules passed by the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs.

According to Arab News, an official circular has been distributed to all municipalities in KSA, asking restaurant owners to observe the new regulation.

Speaking to Arab News, ministry spokesman, Hamad Al Omar said “The move comes within the framework of the ministry’s keenness to pay attention to the health of citizens and residents.”

Al Omar added “Those who violate it will face the relevant sanctions.”
