Nikhil Pereira, August 8th, 2016

Kempinski Hotel Ajman has promoted Daniel Scholles to e-commerce manager.

Scholles holds a diploma in International Hospitality Management from the IUBH School of Business and Management in Germany.

He commenced his hospitality career with InterContinental in Berchtesgaden and W Hotel in Barcelona, prior to joining the Kempinski family in 2013 and rapidly worked his way up the career ladder to numerous positions at Kempinski hotels in Changsha and Guiyang in China, Kempinski in St. Moritz and, lastly, in Ajman.

Scholles has developed his expertise in the digital landscape, as well as providing support to the region’s hotel opening teams as a task force assignment.

After joining Kempinski Ajman in June 2015, Scholles successfully increased the GRI by 3.8% in the first six months, (1% increase in GRI translates to a 1.6% increase in RevPAR: Cornell), meaning that RevPAR went up by 5% including F&B revenue generated through e-commerce activities, compared year-to-date since June 2015.

In his new role, Scholles will continue being responsible for overseeing and implementing all aspects of e-commerce activities, including Kempinski CMS, online reputation and SEO to drive the e-commerce strategy.

Kempinski Hotel Ajman general manager Kai Schukowski said: “Due to the increasing shift towards hotels’ online presence, we are delighted to have such a young and dynamic person as Daniel in charge.”

“Working throughout all the departments of a hotel – front office, F&B, marketing, housekeeping, revenue and e-commerce – has further helped him to understand the operations. He is the right person to spearhead and take over e-commerce from scratch, showing results in such a short time.”
