Le Meridien Dubai to host celebrity music brunch

Hotelier Middle East Staff, August 10th, 2016

Next month, Le Méridien Dubai Hotel & Conference Centre is hosting the first in a series of retro-themed brunches, beginning with 'WOW That’s What I Call Brunch!' on September 2.

While its venue Yalumba undergoes refurbishment, the hotel's brunch has relocated to the Great Ballroom.

Singer Chesney Hawkes, Europop band No Mercy and singer Rozalla will perform at the brunch, with DJ Tim Cheddar assisting with a 'cheesy soundtrack' for the day-to-night event, the Le Méridien Dubai said in a statement.

Yalumba's standard bottomless buffet, comprising dishes from all of Le Méridien Dubai’s restaurants, will be on offer, including British, Mexican, Italian, Indian, Middle Eastern and Asian cuisine.

Tickets are $135 (AED495) per person, available from www.platinumlist.net and Le Méridien Dubai Hotel & Conference Centre.

The line-up:

Chesney Hawkes
The singer spent five weeks at the top of the UK singles chart with 1991’s ‘The One and Only’, which was the 20th most successful release of the decade. Hawkes has toured continuously since 2001 and is soon to release his autobiography, ‘Who I Really Am’.

No Mercy
The band formed in 1995 whilst living in Germany and released a cover version of ‘Missing’ by Everything but the Girl. This was shortly followed by a debut album, My Promise, (renamed ‘No Mercy’ a week later in the US), spawning hit singles ‘Where Do You Go’ and ‘When I Die’. The album went top five across Europe and, to date, the band has sold over 10 million recordings worldwide. Lead singer Marty Cintron, who is from the US, continues to tour as No Mercy.

Rozalla
Rozalla's singing career took off when ‘Everybody's Free (To Feel Good)’ reached number six in the UK singles chart in 1991. It became a top 10 hit in many European countries soon afterwards and reached the Billboard Top 40 in the US the following year. It was later included on the singer's debut album Everybody's Free, which included two other hit singles ‘Faith (In the Power of Love)’ and ‘Are You Ready to Fly’. In 1992, Rozalla toured with Michael Jackson, opening all of his performances on the European leg of his 'Dangerous' tour. She had four UK Top 40 hits in 1994/95, including her cover of 'I Love Music', the theme song to the film Carlito's Way.
