A temporary travel ban between Iran and Turkey has been lifted following restoration of national security.
Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHHTO) is reported to have lifted the ban on sending tourists to Turkey by Iranian tour operators, according to local media.
ICHHTO had banned Iranian tour operators from taking booking for tourists travelling to Turkey following recent unrest in the country.
A statement from ICHHTO said that lifting the travel ban to Turkey comes after the restoration of security in Turkey and following Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif's visit to Ankara, during which time Turkish officials called for resuming Iranian tours to the country.
Turkish officials made assurances that they will compensate damages to Iranian tour operators during the period of unrest in the country.
