Occupancy rates at Sharjah hotels during the first half of 2016 reached 62%.
An international summer campaign organised by the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) contributed towards 878,006 hotel guests spending 1.99 million nights in all hospitality establishments, according to local media.
SCTDA statistics reported that Sharjah hotels achieved US $ 103 million (AED378 million) in revenues during H1, a 7% increase from the same period in 2015.
SCTDA chairman Khalid Jasim Al Midfa said the summer campaign launched by the authority and other government entities formed a strong collaborative strategy to promote Sharjah as a leading family destination, Khaleej Times reports.
The summer campaign contributes to one of the main pillars of the Sharjah Tourism Vision, which focuses on families to develop the tourism sector in the emirate.
