Staytus has returned to the Hotelier Middle East: Great GM Debate for the fourth time, as its lanyard sponsor."

Chief executive officer Troy Simoni said: "We have been supporting the Great GM Debate for four years now. It’s been a great venue to take the pulse of the industry in the Middle East.

"We value the insight coming from the vibrant community of general managers who attend. Some of the more forward-thinking GMs have been our best partners to help us develop ever more innovative guest capture services."

The challenge for the hospitality industry, Simoni said, is the increase in inventory is creating a tough business environment with declining RevPAR. "So the real challenge is to find ways to open new revenue streams to compensate," he said.

He added that it's an interesting time for the industry to figure out how creative it can be in order to maximise outlet revenues under these market conditions.

"Since we are in the business of helping boost outlet capture, we are looking forward to the inevitable discussions about how to increase F&B revenues," noted Simoni.

Staytus has a lot of projects in the pipeline, and Simoni revealed that it has been an exciting year for the company with the launch of its staff coaching service.

"Recommendations via word of mouth remain critical to the business and staff are at the front lines of driving that. We help staff understand how to recommend hotel outlets with the same enthusiasm that they present options in the local market, and help them make recommendations that are tailored to each guests tastes. That’s what helps maximise capture and revenues," he concluded.
