Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has signed an agreement with La Vender Real Estate LLC to open a new sustainable hotel in Dubai under the Element brand.

The new property, the Element Dubai Al Sufouh, is currently scheduled to open in 2019, and will be the fourth Element hotel worldwide.

The news came ahead of official confirmation of the Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide merger with hotel group Marriott International, following which the Starwood brand name will cease to exist.

Element is an environmentally conscious and sustainable hotel brand. The new Dubai hotel will offer 330 rooms, split between studio and one-bedroom suites. The hotel will be aimed at both business and leisure travellers, Starwood said in a statement.

Rooms at the upcoming Element Dubai Al Sufouh are expected to include fully equipped kitchens, “spa-inspired bathrooms”, and modular furniture. Other features of the hotel will be free wifi, a 24-hour fitness centre, two swimming pools, a spa, a business centre, plus F&B outlets including the Restore gourmet pantry.

Commenting on the signing, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Middle East senior vice president and regional director Guido de Wilde said: “We are delighted to sign a new Element hotel with La Vender Real Estate and further strengthen the brand’s pipeline in the UAE. Element Al Sufouh will present business and leisure travellers in the UAE with an appealing option for short and long stays by offering an energizing environment, great design and everything guests need for smart, sustainable living.”
