New executive chef lands at Park Rotana Abu Dhabi

Park Rotana & Park Arjaan by Rotana, Abu Dhabi has appointed Dutch national Thijs Van Rhoon as executive chef, a press statement has revealed.

With over 12 years of experience in the global hospitality and restaurant industry, Rhoon's previous role was in Ras Al Khaimah for the Doubletree By Hilton Marjan Island, a five-star 725 room resort & spa.

Rhoon said: "I look forward to working with the team on new menus, events and out-of-the-ordinary ideas, being particularly interested in creating dishes that engage all the senses."

In this new role, he will oversee the hotel’s entire culinary operations which will include the hotel’s signature restaurant Teatro, all-day dining outlet Ginger, and Cooper’s Bar & Restaurant, in addition to overseeing the entire banquet, outside catering and in-room dining programmes.

Rhoon began his international culinary career in Asia and worked his way across Shanghai, Guangzhou and Qingdao in China, as well as Kaohsiung in Taiwan.

His career also saw him become executive chef of a five-star hotel in Kiev, and later to Sochi, where he oversaw the kitchen operation during the 2014 Winter Olympic Games.

His experience includes working with operators such as IHG and Hilton.
