The Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD), in collaboration with the Emirates Environmental Group (EEG), specialised in environmental activities, has completed a can collection campaign in Ajman, with participation from hotels, schools, individuals and private institutions, said a press statement.
The cans were received at the Ajman Museum, in the presence of representatives of ATDD and the EEG, institutions, and various private entities.
The aim was to collect and recycling cans and to raise community awareness of the importance of recycling and waste in general.
Ramada Ajman Hotel & Suites donated around 60kgs of aluminum cans. Commenting on the initiative, Ramada Ajman representative Mazen Khaddour said: "The participation of Ramada Ajman Hotel with the waste cans collection campaign comes in response to the government and community efforts to raise awareness of the concept of recycling. We thank the ATDD for organising this campaign, and we will certainly participate in the coming campaigns.”
Subash Imke, the hospitality and food manager at Ajman Beach Hotel, said that the hotel collected up to 45kgs.
ATDD general manager HE Faisal Al Nuaimi said that the sustainability of environmental conservation is one of the department priorities, and the ATDD members have developed a number of plans and activities for this year and years to come to raise awareness among community and encourage its members on taking environmental initiatives.
The chairman of the Emirates Environmental Group, Habiba Al Marashi, praised the campaign: “On behalf of all the employees in the group, we express our deep gratitude to ATDD and especially the activities teams and the companies, hotels, schools and institutions for the successful organisation of this campaign for the overall benefit of the society and the country.”
