Centro Capital Centre Abu Dhabi celebrated its colleagues during a week-long ‘appreciation week’.

The human resources team at Centro Capital Centre, as part of the company wide employee satisfaction programme - Engage to Life - has devised a plan called ‘Departmental Appreciation Week’.

Under the programme, one hotel department is selected every month and its colleagues' efforts are recognised through different celebration with activities.

During these monthly events, the ExCom team, led by the hotel’s general manager, also conducts motivational talks and chalks out key activities that aims to recognise colleagues' efforts and increases inter-departmental interaction and improve knowledge sharing.

A few activities carried out were:

  • Front office week had the colleagues attend a cooking workshop by executive chef Kaesta Mcfee, learning to cook recipes under 15 minutes.
  • A mixology and a bar magic workshop for front office colleagues by head bartender Raymund Inoferio.
  • A fruit and ice carving workshop for the food and beverage team by colleagues from the engineering department.
  • Personalised knives engraved with colleague names were presented to members of the kitchen and stewarding team by the general manager for the efforts along with a host of cooking and dishwashing competitions.

General manager Enad Tannous said in a statement: “At Centro Capital Centre we are in pursuit of distinctive ways to recognise our colleagues for their exemplary contribution to the hotel.”

He added: “I am a firm believer in the benefits of knowledge and skill sharing as a key component in the overall development of colleagues and collectively of the team.”

Human resources manager Joannie Gantes said: “This initiative is a gesture of collective efforts, where our colleagues are appreciated not only by the hotel management but by their fellow colleagues as well.”

She added: “The campaign has shown better inter-departmental interaction and bonding among the colleagues who earnestly look forward to their appreciation week."

The Centro Capital Centre-initiated Appreciation Week has now been selected as a company-wide best practice to increase colleague engagement.
