Sarakshi Rai, November 25th, 2016

Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) is forecasting a high occupancy rate of 92% in Abu Dhabi’s hotels over the three days of the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

A number of four and five-star hotels are forecast to be fully booked over all three days of racing, while others are 100% full on individual days.

TCA Abu Dhabi Director General HE Saif Saeed Ghobash said in a statement: “Since the first Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in 2009, the annual event has attracted tens of thousands of fans to our emirate.”

Guest arrivals to the emirate increased by 8% in the first 10 months of this year compared to 2015, with visitor arrivals reaching 3,641,234. Guest nights have also increased by 2% over the same corresponding period to 9,850,881 in Abu Dhabi’s hotels and hotel apartments.

HotelierMiddleEast.com earlier reported that Abu Dhabi’s hotel performance remained under pressure over the first eight months of 2016, with double-digit room rate declines.

JLL's Q3 Abu Dhabi Real Estate Market Overview showed that average daily rates (ADR) fell by 10% during January and August, compared with the same period last year.
