Russia may resume Egypt flights in January

David Thompson, December 30th, 2016

The Russian government may consider the resumption of commercial flights between Moscow and Egypt with the lifting of more than a year’s suspension this January, according to the Russian transport minister Maxim Sokolov.

According to a report filed by the country’s official news agency service TASS, if the present commercial flight ban is lifted, regular services could resume with a service to Cairo, says TRBusiness.

Aviation experts from Russia are reported to be planning further safety and security inspections of Egyptian airports in the New Year.

The recent TASS report says the Egyptian authorities have reacted positively to the new proposed airport security arrangements required by Russia.

These will include the adoption of biometric-only personnel access technology.
