Omani authorities destroy 390 boxes of cheese

Nikhil Pereira, January 3rd, 2017

Oman's Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) destroyed more than 390 boxes of cheese in a shop in Nizwa.

The authorities carried out the operation after it found rotten cheese being sold at the shop.

The PACP said it had received a complaint from a consumer over detecting puffiness and change in the colour of a cheese product that he had purchased from the commercial shop.

Following the report, PACP officials pulled a sample from the cheese and found traces of stale cheese in addition to a high rate of bacteria - a local news daily reported.
