Park Inn Duqm achieves Safehotels certification

Nikhil Pereira, January 4th, 2017

Park Inn by Radisson Hotel & Residence Duqm, Oman, has achived a Safehotels certification within two years of its operation.

Park Inn Muscat & Park Inn Duqm cluster general manager Nuno Neves said: “When we talk about safety and security, it does not mean necesrrily mean turning the hotel into an armed based. In turn we are on a mission to prevent any untoward incident. If anything should happen today, we have prevention measures in place.”

Neves added: “A hotel does not instantly qualify to attain international safety certification. To achieve it, a hotel has to be well-structured, well-organised in terms of almost all aspects — from the engineering, to the security team even the staff and management.”

Safehotels has evaluated the hotel’s existing self-assessment internal hotel security programme through monitoring, reviewing and reporting on the hotel database and submittals.

The hotel goes through a number of criteria including security equipment, staff awareness and training, fire security and first aid.

In December 2014, the Rezidor Hotel Group signed an agreement with Safehotels, which made it the first major international hotel group to use the independent certification programme to benefit guests, employees and owners.

To ensure all criteria are met, Rezidor has worked closely with Safehotels to align the brand expectations and self-assessment programme with the Safehotels standard.

Safehotels Alliance AB CEO Hans Kanold: “By reaching the level of Safehotels certification, it shows the hotel focuses on key elements of guest security relating to personal property and has the right response if ever there’s an accident or any kind of emergency.

"The certificate shows the hotel is sincere in its guest’s personal well-being. Being audited and certified yearly by a third party strengthen the value of that communication immensely. The Rezidor Hotel Group has taken the already high level of internal precautions one step further by signing with Safehotels for a global certification of its hotels.”

Safehotels Alliance AB is a Swedish company founded in February 2001 that’s based in Gothenburg.

The body provides independently verified security and safety certification for hotels and meeting venues with regards to hotel facilities and safety services process, procedures, training and management, security equipment, fire equipment fire procedures and training risk prevention and crisis and recovery management.
