Nikhil Pereira, January 29th, 2017

Salalah Rotana Resort has unveiled an in-house plant nursery as part of its sustainability initiatives.

The hotel’s plant nursery measures 30x30 metres in dimension and has been created with more than 200 plants, increasing the green area of the property.

The nursery has been installed with a drip irrigation system with a network of pipes that allows water flow directly to the plant root.

The resort has witnessed a 20% reduction in monthly irrigation cost through the use of this system since operating the plant nursery.

Salalah Rotana general manager Hossam Kamal said in a statement: “As climate change continues to be a global speak, we recognise that the journey to a more sustainable environment will be achieved only by our collective effort.

"By initiating this project, we are doing our part towards a safer environment. Our plant nursery signifies a key milestone in our sustainability efforts demonstrating our commitment to our environment and all stakeholders”
