New head chef joins Crowne Plaza Abu Dhabi

Specialising in Thai and pan-Asian food, Areewan Larpnikornkul started her career at the renowned Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Bangkok.

Crowne Plaza Abu Dhabi general manager Mr. Ramy Haykal said in a statement: “Cho Gao is an institution in Abu Dhabi and I am delighted to welcome Areewan on board, who will lead the team to a higher level and implement an even more authentic guest experience.”

Areewan moved to Park Hyatt Dubai in 2010 as commis chef at The Thai Kitchen restaurant. She soon was promoted to senior chef de partie. Areewan further developed her skills by leading Thai cooking classes. Before joining Crowne Plaza Abu Dhabi to head the kitchen at Cho Gao, she was the sous chef in the Sabai Thai restaurant, The Westin Doha for two years where she drew on her inventiveness and leadership skills.

Cho Gao, which means rice market in Vietnamese, takes its inspiration from Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, China and Japan. The restaurant recently launched its Taste of Japan menu featuring authentic flavours as well as a new selection of desserts incorporating modern techniques with traditional Asian influences.
