World renowned chef Virgilio Martínez will be the keynote speaker at the Caterer Middle East: Food & Business Conference, Caterer Middle East can confirm.
He will be interviewed live on-stage at the conference, held at Grosvenor House Dubai on March 7, about his concept - called Lima - and using indigenous Peruvian ingredients through modern techniques, as well as his famous 17-course menu that represents the 17 altitudes of Peru.
Caterer revealed last week that Martínez is set to open his first Dubai restaurant in March 2017, Lima Dubai, therefore Martínez is also set to discuss why he has chosen Dubai as the next location to grow the Lima brand.
Ranked fourth in 2016’s World’s Best 50 list with his restaurant Central in Peru, the Peruvian chef and restaurateur has been influential in the Peruvian cuisine trend witnessed around the world in recent years.
Central Restaurante, located in the Peruvian capital of Lima, was ranked No.1 by Restaurant Magazine in its 50 Best Restaurants of Latin America list.
Martínez has also opened two popular restaurants in London, Lima in Fitzrovia and Lima Floral in Covent Garden.
The Dubai venue is the first Lima outside of London, where the restaurant was awarded a Michelin star shortly after opening, the first for a Peruvian restaurant. The Michelin star has been retained for five consecutive years.
