Donald Trump's sons open Trump Golf Club in Dubai

Sarakshi Rai, February 19th, 2017

The 45th President of the United States Donald Trump's two eldest sons, Donald Trump jr. and Eric Trump, made it down to the United Arab Emirates for the opening of the The Trump International Golf Club in Dubai.

Earlier in the day the Trump sons toured the estate, according to a press release.

Donald Jr. and Eric oversee a trust that includes the Trump Organisation's businesses and projects to ensure no conflict of interest between the office of the President and the Trump organisation. The occasion marks the opening of the first Trump-branded property since their father was inaugurated. Donald Trump claims he has separated himself from his global business empire before his inauguration as the 45th President of the United States.

The Trump International Golf Club Dubai is a 7,205-yard, par-71 that is located at the heart of the 42-million square foot Damac Hills master development.

Speaking at the launch event, The Trump Organisation executive vice president Eric Trump said: “We are thrilled to be a part of this momentous occasion in Dubai and to witness the opening of this latest offering in our portfolio of Trump golf courses – the first in the Middle East. It's taken three years to get this project off from the planning stages and we couldn't be more proud."

Also speaking at the event Donald Trump Jr. said: "I've been coming to Dubai for over a decade and to see the vision that Sheikh Mohammed has put forth for this country is truly inspiring. It's truly been a privilege to be part of that vision."

"It's not every day I have a partner that's truly a great friend," Eric Trump said in his speech about Hussain Sajwani. "On behalf of the entire family...it's a great honor to stand here beside you."

Damac Properties chairman Hussain Sajwani said: “It is an honour to stand here today with Eric and Donald Trump Jr, as well as dignitaries and prominent members of the business community, to celebrate yet another outstanding milestone for our city Dubai."

"Thank you so much for your love and your friendship," he added.

The evening ended with a three-minute fireworks display over the golf course.

The clubhouse will feature four new F&B concepts: Fifth Avenue, The Terrace Trump International, The Ninth Sports cafe along with a shisha-lounge Assana, which is being overseen by executive chef Fernando Galbiati.

The golf club has different membership tiers, including full golf, social, corporate, junior and residential.

President Donald Trump claimed in his first press conference with US media since July 2016 in January 2017 that he recently turned down a $2 billion deal with Dubai developer Damac Properties.

"Hussain from Damac, a friend of mine, great guy, offered me $2bn to do a deal in Dubai — a number of deals but I turned it down," he added.

Damac Hills consists of over 4,000 luxury villas and 7,500 condominiums, in addition to hospitality, luxury shopping, spa and wellness, and leisure facilities, along with food and beverage components.
