Dubai-based housekeeper wins big at Express Awards

Presented with the award at the inaugural ceremony last night, housekeeping manager Jotham Mutune Mutinda was praised by the judges for hitting all hotel performance measurements in the last year at Holiday Inn Express Dubai Internet City.

The judges said he exhibited operational results, and in the previous year was also named ‘Department Head of the Year’. In a time during high occupancies for the property, yet limited manning, he managed to achieve all his targets.

Speaking about winning his award, he said to Hotelier Express: "I feel tremendous (sic), and it is the team that I work with is tremendous and that is what has contributed to the success."

"I've been in housekeeping since 1999 and it's my passion. I been with Holiday Inn Express Dubai Internet City since 2008 and I'm truely grateful for this award," he added.  

The award was sponsored by Diversey Gulf and Mutinda was presented his trophy by the company's marketing director Samit Sanyal.

Highly commended in this category was Mohamed Riyaldeen Habeeb Mohamed executive housekeeper Gloria Hotels & Resorts.

The shortlisted candidates in the 13 categories were sent to the 7-strong judging panel to choose the winners.
